You will burn è una canzone composta da Peter Knight che gli Steeleye Span hanno registrato nel 1996 per il loro album “Time”.
“Durante l’Inquisizione c’era una genuina convinzione che il Diavolo usasse le donne per compiere le sue azioni malvagie. Per alcuni queste donne erano conosciute come streghe, per altri come donne sagge o levatrici. Nel corso dei secoli è stata una pratica abbastanza comune incolpare le donne per il male del mondo. Essere bruciati sul rogo era considerata la cosa più gentile da fare nei confronti delle anime sfortunate cadute in preda alla possessione satanica, poiché le purificava e le liberava da una certa dannazione eterna. Con la “Benedizione di Dio” hanno torturato e ucciso migliaia di donne (e uomini) innocenti”[1]
