Where am I to Go M’Johnnies

“Where am I to go, M’Johnnies” è una sea shanty il cui principale referente è Stan Hugill (1961) che la sentì cantare da Harding (the Barbarian from Barbadoes). Gordon Bok nel suo Time and the Flying Snow (1977) riporta una variante della melodia e del testo

Oh, where am I to go, M’Johnnies, oh where am I to go?
Timme way hey hey, high roll and go.
Oh, where am I to go, M’Johnnies, oh where am I to go,
For I’m a young sailor boy, and where am I to go?
Way up on that t’gallant (1) yard,
that’s where you’re bound to go.
Way up on that t’gallant yard and take the gans’l(2) in.

You’re bound away to Kingston town(3),
that’s where you’re bound to go(4).
Yer bound away through ice an’ snow
that’s where you’re bound to go.
