So I Could Find My Way (Enya)

From Enya‘s album ‘Dark Sky Island’ (2015) a love song dedicated to all the moms: ‘So I could find my way’
In her web’s note she writes ” ‘So I could find my way’, this is a song I dedicated to Nicky’s mother. When I moved to Dublin to work with Nicky and Roma, I got to know her very well. Mona was her name and she passed away a few years ago. I got very close to her. On writing the melody, I felt it was appropriate to dedicate the song to her. It’s a slow melody, very emotional.
This is something that is quite universal when the mother moves on. You think about what you left behind in your life. That’s what you’ll always remember
.”

I= IV
A thousand dreams you gave to me
You held me high
You held me high
And all those years you guided me
So I could find my way
II
How long your love had sheltered me
You held me high
You held me high
A harbour holding back the sea
So I could find my way
Chorus
So let me give this dream to you
upon another shore
So let me give this dream to you
each night and evermore
III
Yet only time keeps us apart
You held me high
You held me high
You’re in the shadows of my heart
So I can find my way
(Chorus)

I
Mi hai dato mille sogni
(mi hai dato la carica
mi hai dato la carica)
e in tutti quegli anni che mi hai guidato,
così ho potuto trovare la mia strada
II
Coro
Così lasciati donare questo sogno
su un’altra sponda
lasciati donare questo sogno
ogni notte, eternamente
III
Tuttavia solo il tempo ci tiene separate,
(mi hai dato la carica
mi hai dato la carica)
sei nelle profondità del mio cuore
e riesco a trovare la mia strada
Coro
