2) “Follow your heart” is the catchphrase of many sentimental films, if you trust in your own instinct (the inner voice) you are not mistaken: this current of thought considers the heart (the essence, the spirituality of our being) as something pure, a spark of truth. Not so the Christian thought according to which the heart is something fragile and delicate, which easily falls into corruption and sin and must be protected and strengthened. Proverbs say “He who trusts in his heart is a fool, but he who walks wisely will be saved.”
Thus the question posed in the stanza: is it true that Love grows from the choice of the heart?
Now I don’t think that the text wants to quibble between spiritual love and material love, but rather to make people reflect on love as an emotional bond, a special resonance between souls that enrich and improve (to take flight).
[“Segui il tuo cuore” è il tormentone di molti film sentimentali, se si confida nel proprio istinto (la voce interiore) non si sbaglia: questa corrente di pensiero considera il cuore (l’essenza, la spiritualità del nostro essere) come qualcosa di puro, una scintilla di verità. Non così il pensiero cristiano secondo cui il cuore è cosa fragile e delicata, che cade facilmente nella corruzione e nel peccato e deve essere protetto e fortificato. Dicono i Proverbi “Chi confida nel proprio cuore e` uno stolto, ma chi cammina saggiamente sara` salvato.”
Così l’interrogativo posto nella strofa: è vero che Amore cresce dalla scelta del cuore?
Ora non credo che il testo voglia disquisire tra amore spirituale e amore materiale, quanto piuttosto far riflettere sull’amore come legame emotivo, una risonanza speciale tra anime che si arricchiscono e migliorano (prendono il volo).]
3) the sentence lends itself to a double interpretation: in the first the question concerns what makes the heart tremble when it comes into vibration with Love, it is driven by love (to sigh = to whisper); in the second the question concerns the regret for the escaped love, the missed opportunity to meet the soul mate (to sigh = to grieve)
[la frase si presta a una duplice interpretazione: nella prima la domanda riguarda che cosa fa fremere il cuore quando entra in vibrazione con l’Amore, è sospinto dall’amore ( to sigh= to whisper); nella seconda la domanda riguarda il rimpianto per l’amore fuggito, l’occasione persa di incontrare l’anima gemella (to sigh= to grieve)]
