Bring a torche Jeanette Isabella

I
Bring a torche, Jeanette, Isabella(1),
Bring a torche, come swiftly(2), and run!
Christ is born, tell to the folk of the village,
Jesus is sleeping in his cradle;
Ah! Ah! Beautiful is the Mother!
Ah! Ah! Beautiful is her Son!
II
While it now all the Child is sleeping(3)
It is wrong to talk so loud;
Silence, now, as you gather around.
Lest the sunshine waken Jesus.
Hush! hush! see how fast He slumbers!
Hush! hush! see how fast He sleeps!
III
Hasten now, good folk of the village,
Hasten now, the Christ Child to see.
You will find Him asleep in a manger,
Quietly come and whisper softly,
Hush, hush, peacefully now He slumbers,
Hush, hush, peacefully now He sleeps

I
Ah Ah! Com’è radiosa la madre,
Ah Ah! com’è bello il figlio!
II
Mentre il Bambino dorme
è sbagliato parlare ad alta voce;
silenzio, ora, mentre vi radunate intorno a lui.
Silenzio! Guardate come sonnecchia!
Silenzio! Guardate come dorme sodo!

III
Silenzio dorme ora in pace,
Silenzio!  In pace ora riposa

NOTE
1) Jeanette e Isabella sono due persone distinte
2) l’aggettivo cambia a volte in hurry
3) la frase standard dice ” It is wrong when the child is sleeping,”

Bring a torche Jeanette Isabella

I
Bring a torch, Jeannette Isabella,
Bring a torch, it is dark in the stall;
Jesus awaits, good folks of the village,
Run quickly I hear Mary’s soft call.
Ah! Ah! How radiant the mother,
Ah! Ah! How angelic the Child.
II
See how sweetly Jesus is sleeping,
Like a rosebud (1), so pink and so white;
Trend softly as you draw near the manger,
Wake not the Babe, lest He cry all night.
III
Kneel and adore the infant Christ child,
Whisper low as you gaze with delight;
Angel voices aloft sing his praises
While a star gleams forth clearly and bright.

“Porta una torcia, Jeannette Isabella,
porta una torcia che è buio nella stalla;
III
Inginocchiate(vi) e adorate Cristo neonato,
sussurrate piano mentre vi deliziate lo sguardo,
voci d’angelo in alto cantano le sue lodi,
mentre una stella brilla in alto chiara e luminosa
