Comin thro’ the rye [in italiano “Camminando in un campo di segale”] è una canone tradizionale scozzese (quantomeno settecentesca) diffusa in molte versioni tra cui anche quelle scritte da Robert Burns.

(2) rye è la segale, ma un’altra interpretazione, pubblicata nel Glasgow Herald del 1867 suggerisce che Rober Burns nella sua rivisitazione del brano si sarebbe riferito al fiume Rye e in particolare al guado a nord di Drakemyre (non lontano dalla confluenza del fiume Rye con il River Garnock)-Ayrshire
